چکیده

The scalar and intracardiac electrocardiograms recorded at the time of cardiac catheterization in 5 patients with ventricular pre-excitation have been analysed. Four patients had paroxysmal tachycardia on one or more occasions during the procedure. In each case where complete records were available the dysrhythmia was an atrial reciprocating tachycardia and this rhythm wasnoted at some time during each of thefourprocedures. Sinus rhythm could often be restored by stimulating the heart wall with the tip of the catheter. Two out of three patients with no previous history of dysrhythmia developed tachycardia for thefirst time during cardiac catheterization.

This is the well-established concept of bilateral bundle-branch block.1-3 It highlights a hazard inherent in catheterization of the ventricle opposite that which is already the site of bundle-branch block. Since the advent of cardiac catheterization, numerous reports have been ...

Comparison of Cardiac Function in Young Patients with Thalassemia Intermedia and Healthy Individuals Using Echocardiography Method

Background: Cardiac dysfunction due to chronic anemia and hemosiderosis are the major causes of death among patients with thalassemia intermedia. This study was performed to compare the cardiac function in thalassemia intermedia patients with normal subjects by means of echocardiography. Materials and Methods: This was a case-control study performed on 22 patients affected by thalassemia int...

The use of body surface potential map for identifying sites of accessory pathway in patients with Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome.

The body surface potential map (BSPM) may reflect regional myocardial electrical activity. This technique can thus provide information regarding the excitation of ventricles. This study is an attempt to evaluate the usefulness of BSPM in determining the sites of the atrioventricular (AV) accessory pathway (AP) in patients with Wolff-Parkinson-White (W-P-W) syndrome. The BSPMs were obtained from...

Evaluation of Cardiac Function in Patients with Thalassemia Intermedia

Abstract Background Thalassemia intermedia is a variety of beta thalassemia which shows clinical symptoms somewhere between asymptomatic carriers and thalassemia major. Cardiac dysfunctions due to chronic anemia and hemosiderosis are the major causes of death in these patients. The purpose of this study is to evaluate cardiac function in these patients by echocardiography. Materials and Met...
